A Brief Profile…..

Asif Azmi has a long career in media industry in various roles such as journalist, filmmaker and advertising professional. He has also served as an Advisor to Doordarshan, Prasar Bharti, Govt. of India. 

He has written/ compiled more than 100 articles/ research papers and 11 books including a book on his journalistic articles “Jahane Taza- Afkare Taza”, awarded by Delhi Urdu Academy (2014), “Irfan Siddiqui; Hayat, Khidmat aur Sheri Kainaat” awarded by Bihar Academy (2015) and “Pt. Anand Narain Mulla; Hayaat-o-Kamalaat”, awarded by UP Urdu Academy (2017). His recent books on Majrooh Sultanpuri appreciated and launched in person by Hon’ble President, Shri Ram Nath Kovind.

He has worked as Managing Director of Shezon Media Pvt. Ltd for 16 years. Presently besides working as freelance Ad Filmmaker, he is running two reputed NGOs i.e. IDEA Communications and The Pen Foundation, both engaged in promotion of literary and cultural heritage of our country.

Education:

            •     GRADUATION in Political Science from Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh - 1998

            •      POST GRADUATION in Mass Communication from AJK Mass Communication  Research Centre, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi - 2001

            •           RESEARCH, COMPILATION & FOREWORD of “MAJROOH FAHMI” (URDU) & “MAJROOH SULTANPURI; EK ADHYYAN” (HINDI) a book on life and achievements of legendary Majrooh Sultanpuri. The book was appreciated and received in person by the Hon’ble President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind and released by Shri Arif Mohd Khan (Governor of Kerala) & Shri Ram Bahadur Rai (President, IGNCA) – 2019

            •           RESEARCH, COMPILATION & FOREWORD of “KHALILUR RAHMAN AZMI; EK BAZYAAFT” a book on life and achievements of the pioneer of modern Urdu poetry, Khalilur Rahman Azmi. The book was release by top academics, bureaucrats, scientists and famous Azmi personalities who specially travelled to Azamgarh to release this book in a glittering function in Shibli Academy, Azamgarh. Almost all important Urdu journals/ newspapers like Aajkal, Urdu Duniya, Risaala Jamia, Aiwan-e-Urdu, Inquilab etc have published reviews of this book. – 2017

            •           EDITED AND CO-AUTHORED/COMPILED TWO BOOKS on life and achievements of Urdu poets; Irfan Siddiqui and Pt. Anand Narain Mulla namely “Irfan Siddiqui: Hayat, Khidmat aur Sheri Kainaat” awarded by UP Urdu Academy and “Pt. Anand Narain Mulla: Hayat-o-Kamalat” respectively in the year 2015 & 2016

            •           WRITTEN & COMPILED A BOOK CALLED “JAHAN-E-TAZA; AFKAR-E-TAZA” based on articles on Indian foreign policy and international affairs published in Alami Sahara. The book was awarded by Delhi Urdu Academy in the journalism category and the award was bestowed away by Justice Aftab Alam (Judge, Supreme Court of India) – 2014 

            •           COMPILED A BOOK CALLED ‘JUSTICE WITH URDU’ which is based on landmark judgements of Justice Markandey Katju. The book was release by the then Ho’ble Vice-President of India, Shri M. Hamid Ansari in the presence of the then Union Law Minister and Hon’ble Judges of Supreme Court of India and Delhi High Court. – 2012

            •           EDITED TWO BOOKS OF SAIYID HAMID entitled “Nuquoosh-e-Javed” & “Faryad”, which were released by Lyricist Shri Javed Akhtar and former Prime Minister Shri I.K. Gujral respectively along with Shri Kuldip Nayar and Shri Namwar Singh etc. – 2002 & 2003

            •           WROTE MORE THAN 100 ARTICLES on social, political, economic and international issues for Urdu daily newspapers like Hindustan Hindi, Nav Bharat Times, Statesman, Inquilab, Qaumi Awaz, Rashtriya Sahara, Hamara Samaj, Siasat, Hamara Samaj, Sahafat as well as magazines like Outlook, Indo-Gulf Times, Almi Sahara, Tahzeebul Akhlaq etc.

 

 

Professional, Social & Cultural Accomplishments:

            •           WRITTEN, PRODUCED & DIRECTED several Documentaries, Ad-Films & TV Soaps for both TV & Film mediums in addition to some Radio Talks etc.

            •           INITIATED and organised 4 consecutive Purvanchal Festivals “Maati” at IGNCA. Almost 3000 Purvanchalis living in Delhi have attended these festivals. Besides, many Governors of states, Union Ministers, MPs, MLAs, Secretaries to Govt. of India, film personalities, Artists and top academic have graced these occasions.  

            •           LAUNCHED Urdu Heritage Caravan & Sanskrit Heritage Caravan with an idea to take almost every Urdu & Sanskrit scholar and poets to different parts of the country and showcase the performances for better cultural exchange. The caravan covered 7 states and graced and facilitated by the respective Chief Ministers of those states.

            •           ORGANISED more than 50 national and international events mostly of Urdu, which were graced by dignitaries like President, Vice-President, Cabinet Ministers, Governors, Chief Ministers, Foreign Ambassadors, Judges of Supreme Courts & High Courts to film celebrities, media personalities, scholars and poets.
